About Scott & Wilkinson

Scott & Wilkinson is one of the longest-established accountancy practices in the Lancaster and Morecambe area. The practices' origins date back to 1918, although it was not until 1968, when two local practices merged, that we became Scott & Wilkinson. This new business was originally situated on upper Church Street, Lancaster but by 1995 we had outgrown these offices and decided to move to our present, and more spacious, location at Dalton Square, Lancaster.

Following a number of changes in the corporate landscape, the business actively decided to become a Limited Liability Partnership in 2010.

Coinciding with the move to an LLP, we also welcomed the appointment of Stuart Hinnigan in 2009 and James Cornthwaite at the beginning of 2012. Both James and Stuart are qualified Chartered Accountants and in addition, have the Chartered Tax Advisor qualification. In 2014, Gareth Westworth, Wendy Hird and Gill Lowcock were also appointed as Associates. Following their promotion to Associates in 2012, and with a combined total of more than 50 years' service, Alan Taylor and Susie Campion were made Partners in June 2019.

In March 2022, we became part of the Xeinadin Group and in the process, became ‘Scott & Wilkinson (Lancaster) Limited’ with all partners becoming directors.

All our directors and associates are based at our office in Dalton Square, as we believe a single base allows us to access our individual specialist skills in order to offer clients the best service. Our Dalton Square office also serves as an ideal central base to serve our clients who are located as far North as Carlisle, as far south as the Wirral and across to Leeds in the East.

We are committed to giving a personal service to all our clients and ensuring that they have direct access to their primary contact. To assist in achieving this aim, we maintain a director client ratio which is considerably higher than is typical in the profession. Along with a dedicated team of managers and staff, this allows our directors to become more involved in their client’s affairs and attain a greater understanding of their business and personal needs. This policy has resulted in the majority of our new work being referred by existing clients.

Whilst delivering a first-class client service, we remain committed to delivering value for money and routinely find our fees to be very competitive.

Scott & Wilkinson has many clients in the local community and services businesses, both small and large, across many sectors. In particular, we act for a considerable number of clients in the charity, retail, professional, farming and rural businesses, healthcare, holiday and residential parks, leisure and tourism, motor trade, manufacturing, technology, building and haulage sectors including a range of owner-managed businesses.

Above all else, we remain committed to looking after our clients by consistently investing in our staff and technical resources so that we can continue to maintain and improve the range and quality of services we offer.
