Scott & Wilkinson Welcome Three New Trainee Accountants.

Trainee Accountants must be like buses! Over the last few months we have welcomed three new faces and are delighted to introduce them. It is interesting to note that they have joined at different stages in their careers, yet all with the same ambition – to become a fully qualified accountant.

Joe Sutton joined us last Autumn, after completing A’ Levels in Maths, Further Maths and Physics. An Old Lancastrian, he first met the firm at a Lancaster Royal Grammar School career’s event. Being clear about the direction in which he wanted to go, Joseph felt that training while working offered the opportunity to develop quickly, and without the burden of a student loan. He is currently studying to become a Certified Accounts Technician, after which he will progress to his ACCA. Joe loves films and reading and enjoys taking walks with his Springer Spaniel Molly. Something not many people know about Joseph is that he knows the value of π, by heart, to over 50 decimal places!

Claire Shuttleworth joined us in December 2018 after spending 12 years working in the accounts department of a local business. A girl of many talents, Claire studied at QES in Kirkby Lonsdale and has A’ Levels in Business Studies, Arts and Textiles. After 10 years with her previous company, Claire decided she was ready for a new challenge and began studying for her AAT in her own time. Claire, who lives in the outskirts of Lancaster, loves the outdoors and particularly enjoys cycling and walking Molly her 5-month old Cavapoo. She also enjoys Yoga and is getting close to mastering the infamous ‘Crow Pose’! Like Joseph, Claire is studying for her CAT qualification after which will come her ACCA.

Last but not least is keen sportsman Liam Rigby. Liam is not originally from Lancaster, but just down the road in Poulton-le-Fylde where he studied at Baines High School before moving on to his local 6th Form College. Not afraid of hard work, Liam took a job in a local hotel while studying for A’ Levels in Maths, Economics and Geography, and stayed with the same employer for a year after leaving college. Having always been keen to develop a career in accountancy, Liam joined our team in November 2018. We were pleased to hear that Scott & Wilkinson had been recommended for its professional service and supportive environment. Liam is a keen Arsenal fan, footballer, runner, golfer and cyclist. While he does not have a dog called Molly, Liam claims that he can solve a Rubix Cube in less than 90 seconds. We will be putting him to the test!
