2023 Rounders Tournament with Oglethorpe, Sturton & Gillibrand

Yesterday evening saw the return of our annual rounders tournament against Oglethorpe, Sturton & Gillibrand Solicitors (OSG) and what an evening it turned out to be! After a week of fairly questionable weather, the sun turned up at Westgate Cricket Club for the highly-anticipated event.

Leading the lines for the Scott & Wilkinson teams were James Cornthwaite captaining ‘Cornthwaite’s Clubbers’ and Alan Taylor captaining ‘Al’s All-Stars’. They were taking on OSG’s Clare Love’s ‘Love’s Legends’ and David Park’s ‘Parky’s Posse’.

First up were Al’s All-Stars vs Love’s Legends whilst Cornthwaite’s Clubbers took on Parky’s Posse. The first round of games saw some impressive striking and fielding by both sides which resulted in the scores being tied at 1-1 with Al’s All-Stars winning whilst on the other pitch Parky’s Posse were victorious.

For this year’s halftime teas, we were very thankful to be able to secure a return to the event by Pzazz Pizza who catered perfectly to all our players’ and spectators’ pizza needs with delicious, freshly made pizzas - thank you for doing such a great job again!

Re-fuelled by the pizza, the players took the field for the second round of games which saw Al’s All-Stars taking on Parky’s Posse and Cornthwaite’s Clubbers facing Love’s Legends. Some moments of excellence made for some very entertaining and competitive matches but it was Al’s All-Stars and Love’s Legends who won their respective games leaving the series tied 2-2, meaning we will have to wait until next year to see a victor!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for another hugely successful and fun evening and a special thank you to the event’s organisers Bethany Wood (OSG) and Andy Hill (Scott & Wilkinson) and Westgate Cricket Club for being fantastic hosts.
